Permits

– Indian Citizens: No entry permit needed. However, a special permit is required to visit Protected and Restricted Areas, obtainable through registered travel agents.
– Foreign Nationals: All foreigners must carry an Inner Line Permit (ILP to enter Sikkim. ILPs can be issued by:
– Sikkim Tourism Offices.
– At border check posts (Rangpo, Melli)
– Through government-registered travel agencies in Gangtok/other towns.

NOTE : Documents Needed: Passport, valid Indian Visa, and passport-sized photos.

– Roads & Weather: Mountain routes can be unpredictable. Keep buffer days for delays, especially in North Sikkim.
– Eco-Friendly Travel: Sikkim is India’s first fully organic state. Avoid plastic and support sustainable practices.
– Altitude Awareness: Acclimatise gradually in high-altitude areas and stay hydrated to prevent altitude sickness.

How to Reach

Getting There

– By Air: Fly to Bagdogra Airport (West Bengal) → 4–5 hour drive to Gangtok.
– By Rail: Train to New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) → 5-hour road journey to Gangtok.
– By Road: NH 31A connects Sikkim via Siliguri, offering a scenic drive along the Teesta River.
